My fuel gauge seems to move quite a bit during the course of a drive, short or long for example, today, in the space of around 12-15kms my gauge stared off just above full, dropped to just below full, then went back above full, then back to just on full. I had done just on 100km at the time. A mate of mine with a Nissan patrol said he had the same at one stage. He had a service and they re-earthed the fuel tank (I think is what he said) and it fixed the issue
Is this something I can look into on my d2a, td5, auto?
I'd like to have a consistent reading from my fuel gage.
It might be the level sender which is part of the pump assy but replaceable...usually the problem is where the wires are soldered between the sender and the plug or the sender is gone, unfortunately you have to remove the pump to check that unless there's a problem at the plug which is not as common as the sender itself
you can check it's resistances with a multimeter by moving the float with your hand over it's travel, you have the values attached
