Yeah, all those bullies and their facts and proof....What a load of nonsense all that is!

'Agreed to the chipping.... chipping a D4d engine is not a good thing and I don't ever plan to do it while we own it at least.... the Wind Boost was the quickest and cheapest to get what we wanted + no effect on the warranty should the dreaded knock happens
Paying the small amount to make the car respond like u want to was fine with me.....
BTW: What does a "proper" remap cost these days??"
Sounds like a good idea if you don't want to chip the motor, what does it cost compared to chipping? Does it do any damage? Could be a fantastic idea! Beware though Robbmacca if you don't agree with some of the gurus around here they don't like it, and they can be bullies. I'm anti any type of bully culture and am very interested in what you have to say.
I'm not anti anything, but this stinks of BS.
ANY modification I do to a car is usually prefaced with me thinking to myself "why did the manufacturer choose to do it this way?"
Fact of the matter is there are teams of literally hundreds of people (engineers, designers, specialists in VERY niche fields) who design the systems which go into these cars- be it a late model defender or the top of the line range rover. And yes... even Toyotas have the same.
'Piggy back' systems have been around for years, and changing the output of an air flow meter, auto trans computer or in this case the throttle control, to make it look like a performance modification is just muddying the interface between these systems. My thought is that if a manufacturer had the ability to give a car a sportier feel, or wished you to mash that throttle to the floor under full load and dump an imperial ass-tonne of fuel into the motor, heck, they would have given us that ability. Saying that some bloke who designed an interface between the pedal and the brains of the system has more understanding of what's going on inside the vehicle's ECU than the team of hundreds that designed the thing to begin with, is just plain crap.
Are these devices even legal? Do they fail to safe? Remember you are talking about a fly by wire setup here...

Firstly is it safe? Does it do any damage as chipping can do? What does it cost vs chipping. They are the facts to be established.
As to the wind boost... It's no different to pushing your foot further.
Total WOFTAM.
A good tune for a td5 is c.$350 anyway, do that if you want more go.
Listen to what people have to say, if you don't agree with them, say so, but say it respectfully is my point. Its pretty simple really. We're all here to help each other if we can. Its a great Club!
Respect is what I preach....
Wind Boost - a catchy name (Boost makes people think it makes the vehicle go harder)...
It's the throttle equivalent to Spinal Taps Amplifier.
"Mine goes to 11"...
All it does - absolutely All it does. Is change the ramp profile for the throttle voltage.
A simple system that several here could build and several could remap and adjust...
A dead stock vehicle, alongside one with this box fitted, in an off the line sprint will (all things being equal) be no better or worse performance.
What can happen - is a failure can cause big problems. If it fails to WOT etc...
And the now "hyper sensitive" throttle can also induce low speed incidents. Where a now slight blip of the pedal induces WOT...
I always thought the long travel throttle on the V8's was good off road.
Would you rattler guys rather have a "full boost or nuthin" power delivery??
