    Power loss @ 2500 rpm

Hello all, I have test driven yet another Discovery 2a. At about 2500rpm the power drops, there is a loud rattle and clatter from the engine. I have had a look at previous posts on this topic here, but there is no mention of odd noises. It sounds a it like a bearing somewhere is on the way out. Does this ring bells with any one?

    Cheers

    Bo

If it's high mileage and the front cover was not removed ever it's important to remove the sump and see if there are no plastic bits in it just to be on the safe side... the 2500rpm power loss is common for wastegate modulator failure but no strange noises are involved, if the guide/tensioner are broken the timing might make you tricks at that rpm maybe? ...see this http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ect-found.html

though there can be two faults, the overboost caused by the modulator and some mechanical thing... IMO if you didnt buy it better leave it alone
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
