I've just replaced in my D2a, the engine mounts with new LR Genuine ones at 160kms, the old ones were shot and from my experience most LR mechanics don't pick it when you service your car. My current mechanic does however and said they were on their stops.
I have done this once before on my last D2a at a similar mileage.
Both times I've done this, both vehicles felt like new cars, totally different!? Am I imagining things, or does it make a lot of difference?
Can someone explain what this simple service item really does?? Its amazing the difference IMO!
With the mounts being fluid filled they can isolate vibration better than solid rubber mounts , when the fluid deteriorates or leaks out they just rest on rubber (not nearly as good) causing harshness
Mine has ACE so corners beautifully.
Well that fluid whatever it does, seem to take all the creaks and groans out of the car somehow, feels soooo much better to drive.
TD5?
How much? Easy job?
TD5 are fluid mount and can apparently fail driving away from the workshop! Must be the modern rubbish parts.
V8 are rubber mount and last a VERY long time typically - talking 250,000k or so.
Cheers
Well I've heard (by researching on here) that using cheap Brit Parts are not the go with these items, you must use Genuine LR for the TD5 at least don't know about the V8, I looked at them they said made in Germany on them.
They cost me 45 GBP each + del. and an hour each side for the mechanic.
Great investment IMO!
