Bridgestone Dueler M/T D674 long term test

Just had 5 new D674's fitted today at a local bob jane dealer. Was originally looking for a A/T however was directed to these M/T simply due to price. Prior to purchase I tried to research however any video review, test or forum post was from Bridgestone or linked to sponsors which you can take from what you wish. However for the price I couldn't pass it up so this will be a long term review (from today being day 1) to assist anyone looking at these.

    Product - https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/dueler-mt-d674

    Size - 245/75/16

Price - Rang around a few sellers and price ranged from $207ea to $230ea. Ended up getting BJ to come a little lower @ $195ea fitted.

Pressure - BJ set to 34 F & R and said that's recommended for normal driving. Will play with the 4psi rule and check.

Road noise - I would say acceptable and certainly not excessive for a M/T. Only slightly louder than a Falken wild peak A/T I had on my old d40 navara. On the smooth hwy it has a little hummm and more so when pulling up to lights, but on the slightly rougher open road almost non existent.

Grip - Well, today Tassie turned on its charm with snow settling to water level and rainy all day! In the wet they gripped as expected with no unwanted slip even when pushed. Headed up a little higher in the hills to get some thicker snow and they were great. Tested the ABS a few times on both road sections, gravel roads and snow covered sections with no problems.

I will update this when I hit new surfaces & play with pressures a bit.

    They are an exceptional tyre.

Not prone to chipping like their American cousins, a better compound for grip at only the slightest loss of longevity.

    Tighter grip than a teenager...

I'm running these tyres in that size on my Sportage. Tyre mob up here in Darwin said to run them up at 40. Have been and no significant wear yet. They grip really well on the road however are noisy as expected for a muddy with the usual roar of tyre but it is not to confronting.

Only been doing the triangle of death on them and and have not had them off road yet. Looking forward to trying them out in the rough stuff.

    Cheers,Chris

I've got these in 235/85R16 on the TD5, I've done about 15,000kms on them and they are fantastic. So much traction in the mud and they seem to just get on with it when you're down below 10PSI in the soft sand. Not too noisy for a M/T on the blacktop either. All my mates are spending $300-$400 a tyre on Mickey's or Goodrich's or what-have-you and the Bridgestone keeps up, if not smashes them!
100% happy with them and would definitely buy them again.

May I suggest you drop the tire pressures to 36 PSI. I ran mine at 40 from Melbourne Vic to about Gimpy QLD then lowered then to 36 PSI (This was recommend by Bridgestone who fitted mine in VIC) Made a huge difference to comfort and a notice decrease in road noise.

I don't mean to take over your thread, but i've also been running this tire for 6 weeks now and have done 12,000kms from Gippsland to Cape York to Fraser Island to Canberra to Mt Kosciusko back to Gippsland.

So far these tires have done everything except thick bog hole type mud.

Rock - Exceptional and chip resistant
    Dirt - Exceptional
Wet red dust / mud far north QLD corrugated road - Excellent
Sand - Hard on my TD5 Disco but that is not the tires fault. With low tires pressures I feel they did well and with a car with more power they would have been better.
    Snow - Excellent
Asphalt - Grip very well and are not noisy

I cannot fault this tire yet, for the price why would you buy a Micky Thompson, Coopers or BFG? Even MAXIS charge too much now. If for no other reason the D674 tire is quieter on the road than all of these.

I was also apprehensive at first as well due to the seemingly biased marketing. My mate who works at Bridgestone (possibly also biased) told me one of his clients fitted them and went out bush in the mud with his mate who had Simex's. The D674 went all the same places with no issues and the bloke with the Simex's was pis..... frustrated.

I hope you have better luck with the life span of yours than I experienced with my Bridgestone All-Terrain tyres. I have had both the Dueler AT Revo 2 < DUELER AT REVO 2 ECO > and D697 < https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/dueler-at-d697 > and both wore away extremely quickly!

What size and pressures were you running?

ACE on a D2 can wear outer edges quicker (we tend to turn quicker with ACE)

This image is a D697 from my D4, they get pushed hard...
    These are 70,000km+

Defining quickly is a bit like you defining "pushed hard" it's all relative.

I think I have given my BFG MT a hard time but I've only been in the NT for near 3 years. For the locals up here, this is normal.

Then the mob up here have no idea about windy roads. Blasting the Kangaroo valley means pushing hard through some corners to me. Those kind of roads will get semi slicks nice and warm.

Up here, there are 2 corners. Tuning on the Barkley Hwy from the Stuart Hwy and turning onto the Victoria Hwy. That about sums up the state.

    Happy Days
