SupporterGood morning! My name is Cam, and I am recently a first time Disco owner, and first time poster in these forums.
Just have a question from people with real world experience, as being a 2002 Disco, the headlights just aren't cutting the mustard.
With a huge amount of globes on the market, HID conversion kits and the like, I am wondering if anyone has advice on the best and cost efficient way to make my lights shine brighter?!
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Cam

SupporterThanks Ozscott. Are they simply plug and play? It's the H4 globe variety in these Disco's isn't it?
Cheers!

AT RESTJust be careful on globe upgrades, they can peeve off a lot of drivers approaching and may not be roadworthy.

The Osram I mentioned are a stock wattage bulb - it is just that they are very white (noticeable so from inside and outside) and with better cut off - you can see more with them. They do not upset drivers as much as HID's do in modern cars - in fact they are worse.
Cheers
I agree about aftermarket globes annoying others, in my regular commute from Moree to Tamworth I encounter a startlingly large number of idiots with downright dazzling headlights plus the usual fog lights with brighter globes put in trick. Many times I have to drop back my speed on account of these people. And if there were a roo or emu on the road I wouldn't have time to react. At the same time I fully understand the original posters frustration at the standard Disco 10 candle power headlights, which aren't good enough for the driving that I have to do. I guess, too sum up, don't get silly with lights and remember that you are not safer if your headlights dazzle others.
I have read sevral times that upgrading the wiring will help greatly. That's on my to do list very soon.
I already have Plus 50% globes. Yes same wattage but brighter (according to the manufacture).
Happy Days
Let us know how you go Joel. I have read the same re the Traxide kit, but dont know if its worth the effort or not after the improvement from better quality as opposed to higher wattage bulbs. Cheers

SubscriberIMHO the fix is to fit a loom and then fit upgraded bulbs.
I will firstly state that I have never had an oncoming driver flash me as my headlights are adjusted correctly and have a sharp cutoff.
I tried plus 50 Osram bubs and they give "a bit" of improvement but were disappointing. I certainly don't think they added 50%.
I then fitted 130/100 bulbs and am happy with the result.
BTW D2s have glass lenses so the UV will not yellow them, although most quality bulbs will be "UV cut".
