Don't know what your piece of Leggo is, but re your red snot, suspect cap. Just wipe it clean and monitor what is happening with it.![]()
Found this little item in the back storage box of our "new" Disco. Can anyone identify it please? I doubt it's very important but in getting to know my car I'm happy to put it back where it belongs. If, indeed, it is part of the car and not a bit of Lego.
Also, the coolant header tank has a a fair quantity of reddish slime, like snot, around the top of the tank. It matches the red coolant. It looks clean, just snotty. Is it likely to be gooing up the places inside its meant to be cooling? What would you flush with, if you thought it necessary?
thanks,
pete

The water outlet elbow on the head of my Td5 had a delightful build up of snot on it.
Generally an indication that it needs a coolant flush. Doesn't need to happen often but every now and then it's good for the system.
If you're really keen, hook a hose up to the heater matrix and run it until the water comes out clean. Will take a while.
Hi Pete,
I have had a Disco 2a for a year-and-a-half now, and I have been all over (and under) it. I don't think your object is a vehicle part.
Simply from its appearance, I think it is probably part of a vacuum cleaner that was used in the car in the past (very likely when it was being made ready for sale to you!)
One way to test this would be to ring the person from whom you bought the car - they might be quite pleased to restore their vacuum cleaner to completeness!
I hope you enjoy your Disco,
Andrew Milne
