I presume you are not asking me that... cos IMO you can't communicate with an immobilised BCU whatsoever no matter what tester you are using... let's hope i'm wrong
Good luck
Thanks for the info. You're confident that I should be able to read and write from/to the ECU/BCU with the TD5 Nanocom when immobiliser is enabled and on?

PM ME FOR WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR
Hi,
Yes, battery has been out for 2 weeks, on charge. Immmobiliser still very much on afterwards as alarm sounded as soon as I contacted battery terminal.
I don't suppose anyone with a Nanocom can test if it's possible to talk to the ECU/BCU with immobiliser still on? I understand this might be a bit "alarming", and not a trivial test to do, unless perhaps alarm disabled in BCU before testing.
Cheers
James
To disable the alarm/immobiliser you have to be able to communicate with the BCU first... it was conceived to not communicate with tester in immobilised status as a security measure which is logical cos otherwise a thief who has a tester could break in, plug in the tester, remobilise it, force the ignition and drive away cos the steering lock is easyly breakable
i have 3 testers(nanocom and hawkeye included) and it's a hobby of mine so you can believe me on that

Works on mine. 2000 D2 V8. BCU is same. It won't connect with accessory or ign power on because you can do things that would be dangerous if driving at the same time. Same for SLABS/AUTO/ACE/ systems as an example, playing with ABS while driving = danger to, well, everything.
The BCU is the same i agree but do you mean that you opened the door with key(without the setting to be "always disarm with key" previously), then the alarm went off and got immobilised and you altered alarm/immobiliser settings in the BCU while it was immobilised?(that's the OP's situation)... that would be quite odd though

Would it be possible for my BCU to be put into another Disco2 and have the BCU configured via nanocom to disable immobiliser when key is used to unlock vehicle via drivers door lock? After putting BCU back into my Disco 2 and using key to unlock vehicle, it would disable immobiliser and I could start the engine?
As long as your BCU is removed while immobilised your only chance is to put it in another car and use the EKA hoping that your's has some problem with the door switch or it's circuit to BCU and that's why you can't insert it, even if you put your BCU on another vehicle you must remobilise it to be able to comunicate with it... but if you have that chance worth a try...i mean put it on other car and try to remobilise it with EKA, then disable the alarm/immobilisers with tester and put it back on yours...this way at least you'll see if it accepts or not the EKA cos if it doesnt then you can bin it.
if yu do that follow steps 1 to 4 and 6(skip all the others) in that procedure i previously posted while it's on the "host" then put it back to your's and follow again all the steps to confirm that they are the same especially if you are using nanocom cos it used to have a mind of it's own with the BCU... if the other car has lower mileage better unplug the instrument pack before to avoid the risk of self sync'ing the odometer with your BCU and get the higher mileage cos it's irreversible...if it's higher mileage no problems

Odometer doesn't self synch, infact you have the option when fitting either new unit (ECU or BCU) of synching either way. The instrument pack stores it's own data and retains info when either or both units are removed.
FWIW it is possible, if you do it in the right order, to put the Km's back. I worked it out. But not publishing it.
As for putting it into another car, the two units have to be synched together (internal security codes for the checksums the ECU uses to operate) so you'd need a nanocom at your end so you could synch it back to your car from the other.
