    Sus Crankshaft Bearing????

    Hi all,
Have a rusty look all around Crankshaft Bearing. No abnormal free-play, but suspect it is the one responsible for the Tweety bird that is currently residing in my Engine bay....
Having said that there is no free-play, obviously doesn't discount the fact that it may be going the other way and seizing I spose???
    Any thoughts??
    Cheers,
    Mark.

Have you checked for an aviary? . some as you know even grow vegetables under the bonnet
Is the noise still there when running without serpentine belt?. Pic is a harmonic balancer , if still there make up a holding tool and check torque ( 460 nm) , also check the rubber behind for cracking

Just so its clear, thats the harmonic balancer right ? if so there isnt a bearing in there so its more likely one of the belt tensioners or alt/ps/wp bearing thats chirping.

    Cheers guys,
Yes, I will investigate further, the growing of Veggies in there. Might be quite tasty.
According to Rave, it's a Crankshaft Pulley with a "TV" Damper bolted to it.
That's why I called it a Crankshaft Pulley.
Rave also makes no mention of a Bearing, though I'm quite sure I've seen one mentioned somewhere on the net. I was looking for it before, but couldn't find it...........
    I'll keep looking.
    Cheers.

That chirping noise as long as there's no play in the pulleys might be due to the drive belt istself IF IT'S NOT GENUINE, not OEM or any brand, only genuine belts are silent.

The belt I'm using is a Gates. I thought they were the ducks nuts...???
What concerns me is the rusty 'stuff' where the bearing sits.
When the belt is on, everything is lined up within a poofteenth of a mm.....
I think I'll clean it up and just keep an eye on it. Got a heap of other stuff to do on her.
