Thread: Just bought a D2

Hi Gang!


I've ordered a 90 Defender Adventure which is due here in November, came to the realisation that I'd never take it off road! Its going to be a sort of weekend car!


So with that I needed to buy something else to explore all the Island off Brisbane! Was going to get an older Defender but couldn't find a decent low km one with service history, then thought about an ex ADF one, went to have a look and did some homework, after talking to Qld transport modification department found that there was a massive grey area on getting the rear seats certified and didn't want to take the risk.


So started looking at Defenders, spent the last week researching on here and went to view a couple, dogs of things! In the end I looked at this one which is 2 minutes walk away from me!

Thought it was too much money and didn't want to wast the blokes time, in the end I rang him and got the low down, turns out he's just bought a Jeep (obviously hooked by the TV adverts) and the car was surplus, he aslo told me that Greg Tunstall had been doing the service, I know Greg and rang him, turns out the blokes anal on maintenance and had it serviced every 10K with an oil change every 5K, he also said the previous owner had it serviced with him as well!


So I offered him X amount and he laughed, told him that I'd got it down to two and I was going looking at the other car next, bit of haggling and I managed to pick it up for $9K, well happy with that. He's also leaving the radio and the roof rack, its fitted with a reversing camera as well!
The only problem I can see is a bit of rust on the window frame and the front bumper is cracked.


Pick it up next week after its had a safety cert done!
