2 ton will not worry it at all, IF the Disco (or in this case, tranny) is regularly serviced/looked after.

If the trans was going to fail,,
I'd have thought it would happen with the two ton on---

no big pool of fluid under the car?

    Once started...

*Select first gear and give a few revs up n down.
*Select reverse and give a few revs up n down.
*Engage low range and try the above two items again.

Trying any of the above, do you get any slight change in engine note, bit of a shrug from the body, any clunk or movement?

If YES to any of the above, generally on a D2 its time for another auto to be fitted. A fully rebuild auto is great but so is the cost. Another working used auto box fitted and serviced is a perfectly acceptable repair and will save u many thousands of dollars. Service used box every 50K after that.

How I pick a good used auto:
Drive it.... unless you get, say a 3 month warranty with it.
The last so many auto swaps I've sourced from buying cheap D2's (I basically only want the engine, auto, transfer case).

    Regards
    Daz

I guess the switch need to be replaced. Anyone know how much it is? Does it need to be genuine?
