    Auto gearbox service

    Gday All,

Got the father in law staying with us and he was telling me he cant remember ever being told his auto has been serviced.

Can someone tell me what the service interval is for the D2a auto , and what oil do they use, is it ATF or different ?

    Thanks and Cheers Ean

Looks like every 40K? Mine must be near due again then.

I will run Transmax Z. Supercheap no longer stock it and it's $90 at Repco. I'm waiting for the next 30% off to AANT members.

    Happy Days.

    The interval is 40k

The fluid spec is Dexron III ATF

Transmax Z or Nulon Synth ATF seem to be the popular weapons of choice.

I checked on mixing the std Dex III with Transmax Z and it's OK as Transmax Z is a DexIII fluid anyway ... They just star that it's OK to mix but you won't gain the full benefit of the Z ... But progressive ATF changes will work in your favor as far as the fluid goes.

Hi ean yes dex 3 or better. Every 40k or less if hard working. Easy job on a d2. V8 is less prone to issues as they have less heat generated by the tc and consequently the oil rarely gets burnt.

I thought I read somewhere on here that the TransmaxZ is supposed to be good for 90k

You don't get all the fluid out when you drain it, so if you do two or three drains and fresh fluid during that 90,000km then you should be ensuring that all the fluid has been charged reasonably regularly.
