Rattling noise on low range stick...

The low range stick in my disco vibrates and produces a rattling noise. If I hold it with my hand the noise stops immediately. Seems like it is a bit loose.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

    Thanks

    No sorry.

I thought I had that once but it ended up being the Land Rover cup holders I had installed.
    Cheers, Dale

Not engine mounts, the transfer lever is attached to the TX case by cables, maybe the rivets holding the TX lever to the body have come loose.

Worn mounts can still make the lever vibrate, cable operated or not.

I agree, also check the transmission mounts.

The lever moves along a slide rod with a plastic bush from memory. If it does turn out to be specific to the lever, there is a chance the rod is loose. But i'd imagine you would be also able to pull the gear knob up and down if this was the case.

worn mounts can send vibration through the chassis and body
