Today we did the engine mounts on my friends TD5 too.
It was a cake walk. we started a 9 .30 and were finished at lunch time.
This time I can even walk properly after we finished!

Great, now you can do mine!
I was quoted $800.00 all up for the job by a local land rover workshop.
I paid $375 from a Sydney factor for genuine LR mounts, that is landed on my door step.
I just figured I would sooner put the balance of that in the diesel tank. All the rest of you form a queue over there to the left...... no further to the left...... no further..... further.,
Get the idea?
Bohica, It can be done easily in half a day but having a helper is very much advised.
You need someone to hold a spanner on top whilst you are under it.
Regards Nick.
Hi There,
Mine arrived today, job for later in the week after work. Depending on how energetic I am might do them after work, other than that Saturday is looking good. Doing them myself better things to do with the money.
Cheers Marty
Hi Worane,
I've now done the drivers side mount however the passengers side doesn't look like it will fit between the engine bracket and the chassis, does it? Or does the mount come out between the down pipe and the chassis, backwards towards the firewall? Won't go forwards to radiator.
I've tightened up the drivers side for now however on your advice i'll let that go again when I do the passengers side. Just interested which way the mount actually came out.
Thanks for any assistance rendered
Cheers Marty
What are the right tools?
This is before I think about doing the same thing.
In saying that, I have had the fuel cooler of, cleaned out and new o rings fitted... apart from the usual grumbles about awkward locations of nuts/bolts etc, I got that job done with little issue.
The engine mounts though do come off as a little more intimidating.
Still to see a photo with someone who has jacked up the engine... that would be handy. :)
Hi Plaven,
I'm in the process of doing mine right now, I have done the drivers side one which was OK. I didn't let the passengers side one go which I think now in hindsight wasn't a good idea. The mount went in with some persuasion. It is important to take the engine acoustic cover off and the fan top shroud.
To do the passengers side I'm going to have to take the fuel cooler off (again) and release the drivers side mount top nut. I'm still waiting foe someone to get back to me about which direction the mount actually comes out. The gap between the engine and the chassis rail looks to small and yet with the stud that goes through the engine support I can't see the mount coming out any other way.
Just getting the spanners warmed up ready to go in................
Cheers Marty.
