    D1 alloys onto a D2

It has taken me some years, but I have come to the view that I prefer the look of my stock Disco 1 (95) ROH alloy wheels to my stock (01) D2 alloy wheels. Both are 16 x 7.

Will the D1 wheels fit on my D2 (yes I havent yet got around to trying this) and is the offset etc the same? Are the ROH ones rated the same in terms of load?

My plan is to take the ROH wheels and have them powder coated in gloss black and stick them ont the D2 with the D2 wheels going over to the D1.

I perfer the wider stance of the D2, but I think that is down to the RR front end and not wheel offset.

    Cheers

Nope they won't fit. I wish they would though. I've got so many D1 steel wheels lying around.

    A bit more than "small" - D1/RRC/Defender 165mm, D2/P38A 120mm - it's easily visible to the naked eye.

    D1

    D2

    Then there's the offset - 33mm on D1/RRC/Defender vs. 57mm on D2/P38A

Thanks. I haven't compared the pattern side by side but the D1 did look to have the studs out wider.

Bugger. Oh well...might look at facelifting my stock mags.

If you are going to powder coat, you have nothing to lose by spraying the rims with cheap satin black enamel to see how they look.

You can buy wheel adapters that will allow a D1/Defender wheel to be fitted to a D2/P38.

But they're not legal in Australia.

Thanks again gents. Muppet I do like a number of aftermarket's including Zu, but cannot justify the $$ given that the 16 inch rims work well and hold the tyre well when aired down. I will keep my eye out though.

Ron I have been toying with that idea. I know people who did not have a great outcome with powder coating. There is also a view that powder coating heats the alloy and causes hardening which might lead to structural failure...not keen on that!

So satin black paint it might be...got to convince myself it will look good. I think the stock mags look ok in black, but the D1 shape with wrap in arms looks great in gloss black. Some D2's had a very similiar design of wheel and they look great in black too I reckon.

    Cheers
