    Ethanol in Land Rovers

    well D2 V8's to narrow it down a bit

    anybody found anything specifically against it?

    anybody tried E85?

    The local Liberty is now selling it

    doesnt it eat fuel lines n other gaskets

    How many $ is a tank of Eth going to save you. Maybe $3-4, is it worth it really.

    anybody tried E85?
    E85 is only for engines designed for it like the latest Commodores, which have big injectors and a sensor in the fuel system to recognize E85, which then alters the fuel curve in the ECU.

    I don't know whether a RV8 would even run on E85 , but you can be sure it wouldn't run well.

    E10 is the most ethanol that you want in a normal engine and I don't even want that as the economy suffers due to ethanol having only 60% of the calories per litre compared to petrol.

    believe it or not-- the cost per litre is irrelevant to me,, I wanted the 107 octane rating.

    isnt there something about the weight of E85?

    opening guess.

    the higher octane rating will help keep the engine from modding its running settings as much when its running on petrol as opposed to LPG meaning that the engine performs more efficiently on LPG and returns to the "normal" lpg settings quicker after warmup.

    Having some 'pinging' or 'pinking' issues?

    It cant be for chasing economy with extra power - as the calorific value is much lower than 98 Unleaded... And you'll need to feed in a lot more, with a heap of timing advance etc to get the power back...
