Yeah it will smoke after a long down hill run coasting, it kind of smells like burning oil but like diesel also, not really strong smell of oil though, the oil on the dip stick seams very thin, and it's not moving l, so not using oil, I've done 1500kms in the last few days so I think it would have used some... I've tried a full diesel fuel system cleaner in the last tank, that didn't do much, maybe made it slightly better

Perhaps try some good injector cleaner (i use fuel cleaner concentrate from cost effective) and see if it stops?
Fuel usage is normal, on 855kms and still above empty.... And the car is running just fine, I'm a bit confused, it's only as the engine warms up, so maybe the oil is too thin that the guy has used? (He did an oil change the day before I picked it up) oil is still very clean,

I think on the balance of probabilities the head is cracked allowing diesel into the sump. The previous work before you bought the car may have been an attempt to cure your problem and the crack in the fuel gallery was not picked up.

Before the apocalyptic scenarios something easy and cheap to replace is the crankcase breather(depression controll) valve LLN100140L cos if it's blocked closed on start-up it can be the root of white smoke too(that's a good move to be replaaced if it's old anyway even if it doesnt cure this particular issue), but if you search "PD engine white smoke" you'll find plenty of info on the web about similar engines like the Td5 so you'll have more ideas
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

Not necessarily and usually not. I think Sierrafery's suggestion makes sense, change the crank case breather and see if there is any improvement. Good luck and I hope I'm wrong.

Not really, I've just fitted the new depression valve assembly, dropped the oil, and put thicker stuff in to the right level, tried some injector cleaner in this tank, and still the same unfortunately, sometimes it looks like it's better and then other times it's real bad

I put some silicone intercooler hoses on on the weekend, turbo side was all good, but intake side was fairly coated in oil... Could this be the problem????
