Thread: D2a TD5 rattle

Like the guys said do it ASAP.

My HB actua lly broke with the counter weight seperating. I was extremely lucky and it didn't damage anything. I was on my way to a appointment when I kept hearing noises which I know now was the HB counter weight seperating. When I went to leave the appointment and start the car that is when it let go with an awful racket. Lly I was not actually moving at the time. Shut down straight away no damage. Hate to see what would have happened if I was moving. There is a lot of weight in the counter weight.

I got my Ross HB from Karcraft they were the cheapest at the time. Make sure you shop around.

I am thoroughly convinced it is my HB now that I have read everyones comments, I am not in a position at the moment to disassembled it myself. But when I return home from working away for a couple of weeks Ill take it to the mechanic to have it replaced.
I do suspect it is the rubber of the crank pulley itself which is failing more that the weight about to snap off as the steering wheel at full lock or turning the aircon on will put enough extra tension on the HB to make the knock go away.

Needless to say the car wont be moving again until the short drive to the mechanics.
