Don't know if this helps, but the whole assembly is not too pricey. Part # XFG100330
Sorting out a recently aquired D2 and am having trouble keeping the high mount stop light attached. The foam rubber gasket is there attached to the window firmly and in good condition however the light housing has become detached from that. Does anyone know the part number for the gasket or is there a silution for re-attaching it to the gasket (and don't say double sided tape!)?
All help appreciated (ref: double sided tape comment).
Cheers,
Damo.

Ordinary super glue works well on rubber and plastic. Loctite make a fancier super glue that might be even better than the cheap stuff, 401 is the grade.
Thanks Guys, I have picked up the inner lens/reflector part of the assembly and it has the foam gasket attached. I will have to remove the old foam gasket but there is a smoothish surface on the new one to adhere to the etched black surround on the glass.
I'll hunt around for suitabel glues and post again when I find a suitable one and it works.
I had mine out completely with the transfer case attached. I stood mine on end so the input shaft inside the bell housing was pointing to the sky. I then put the torque converter on and lined up the 'dog clutch' i think it's called.
Carefully ensured it stayed in the correct location.
Anyway, either way you do it, i found this information very useful. I used a straight edge across the face on the bell housing and a digital micrometer to measure it, but you could use a tape measure.

Windscreen silicone is a good idea and I think I'll give that a go. I took a couple of pics of the inner bulb housing and foam gasket as requested. There is a smoother but more adhesive friendly surface on the face of the gasket. Doing this from the phone so let's hope they come through!
Don't think your pics came through but if I understand what your saying correctly the light attaches to the glass via 2 threaded posts item 6 in the exploded view and are available as part No AWR4647

If the studs are ok and just need to be re-attached to the glass you coul try a suitable 3m product or next best and more readily available would be something like this.
