On a V8 even the MAF can cause such symptoms without necessarily throwing a fault code, seen this on a friend's car, a recorded live data log would help to see what's going on when the symptom occurs
Sounds like it could be crank angle sensor. I would have thought it would throw a code for CAS though. Cheers

Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
All fixed.
A tube had come off the fuel pump (the tube that connects the top bit to the bottom bit). Put it back on with clips top and bottom to secure and now all good.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
Battler you still have the 1668 code though?
cheers
I cleared the code after I started it and drove it home. By this time I'd had enough of the D2; doing all that work in the sun and 33 degree heat (mine is LPG with a 30l aux tank in the rear wing. So I had to take out the tank (which was almost full) to get to the pump; it was time for a beer! So I didn't checked the code.
Just started it up this morning and let it run for a while and then checked for the code. The code hasn't returned. Another lesson learnt on my D2 ownership journey; don't always believe the codes!
So Battler you were getting spark but no fuel pressure?
Cheers
