    Good thinking Schuy

    The prev owner did give me a spare XYZ switch with the car

    As for keeping our neurons active and seeing as I also own a Jaguar, my 2 favorite sayings are;

    " Land Rover. Making mechanics out of drivers for nearly 60 years"

    " Jaguar/Land Rover. Keeping mechanic's kids in private school for over 50 years"

    if your xyz is faulty it would have either brought up codes or m+s lights flashing , to test look at the dash display while changing through prnd321 there should'nt be any of those that doesn't show on the dash also in reverse with wipers on the rear wiper should work

    Filters "discontinued"

    Just as well you got a filter change now .... I just walked out of the AP Eagers Parts centre in Eagle Farm Brisbane (parts supply for Landrover as I was told at the Ann Street Landrover centre), they told me that the filter kit for the ZF auto box (part HYM1164) has been discontinued and they can no longer get them!! That being the case I guess there will only be "non-genuine" filters being installed in all those boxes from now on...... Is this correct or is it just they they can't interpret a warehousing system at this time of day?? Seems odd that part would be discontinued at this point.

    There's also the possible alignment of the XYZ. Some of the ZP's required a slotted hole in the XYZ and a bit of a fiddle. The M+S don't come on but the 123DRP illumination is not on.

    Hi Guys

    The 123DRP illumination is all good.

    The rear wiper comes on if wipers are on and R selected

    Latest observations are;

    1. If I wait 9 seconds after start up before selecting R , sometimes it engages ok.
    2. If I select R straight off and leave my foot on the brake while upping the revs it takes up after few seconds.
    3. Yesterday morning , I got in , selected R straight off, first thing after sitting overnight and engaged ok??
    4. On Saturday I backed up to the trailer after I had already reversed out of the garage , hooked up drove forward a bit and then had to reverse to get a second swing( whilst pointing down hill ) and it wouldn't engage. Eventually did. I think I switched of and back on again.
    5. Could it be some crud in the ECU harness under the bonnet ?

    I had mine serviced at GC in sydney for over 5 years, around 100K km.

    When my auto went, i took it to an auto trany shop, they said the filter was very dirty.
    I called up, GC, to ask if they had been changing the filters when they serviced the auto, they said no. Fluid change only in the auto.

    It pays to ask questions what people are doing with your car, and not assuming they are dong it.

    I learnt.

    Also on next service I found out that coopers had left me short changed on oil.
    4 litres short in fact.
    Not impressed with their service considering the cost the charged me.
