    thexprinter

    recently purchased an 03/D2 and having overheating problems . Seeme to be it only occurs wshen daily temp above 40 degrees..have replaced thermostat,
    there seems to be a heat exchange unit on the line to EGR valve Has anyone got news of such a thing

    How is the viscous coupling on your fan? If this is on its way out then there might not be enough air getting through on those hot days but might be fine on others.

    All eu3 td5 D2 from 2002 onwards have an EGR cooler on the front of the engine to cool the EGR before it enters the inlet manifold. This seems necessary to meet thee regulations.

    First thing I would do is take off the grille and blow through the condenser, intercooler and radiator with an air gun, then take off the shrouds and do it from the back. Have a good look at all three. I recently removed the electric fan and found some butterflys etc in there.

    If it still overheats you may need a new radiator.

    Mine runs on about 85c on the flat in 41c up to 93c on hills

    Fan seems reasonably stiff to turn by hand so am only guessing its OK many thanks

    Washed radiator oil cooler and intercooler will remove elect fah and gige a clean behind there...many thanks
