Phil, next time up go through the prcess of drilling out the rivets, don't bother to install new rivets, use self tapping metal screws to refit the plates. Save you a lot of time next time. ( you know you like to tinker, so you will be under there again
)
Re the araldite, heat is a killer, it actually will soften araldite . This is how we released things glued with araldite, we heated it gently and the items came apart. But it might last a while.
I'm sure Kenny outback1 would have a good used Genuine switch.

I won't be under there again willingly!LOL
I went camping on the weekend as it is the 25 th anniversary of Disco launch in OZ. So the Range Rover Club had an event near Capertee.
So We had a bit of a 4WD on farm tracks and the difflock was very helpful.
I also took a drive to Turon Gates and then to Sunny Corner.
So far the switch has stayed in place on these rough roads.
