What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Service part 2 - engine oil and filters, auto tranny service and greased my props. All ready to tow the block-o-flats caravan to Bendigo on the weekend.

Also found out what the rattle in the D2 was. Tombie had the idea it was the heat shield on the transmission mount. Turns out it's fatigued and torn. I bent it and the note changed in the cabin. Have to order a new one. It's been giving me the ****s for 5 years! On first inspection it looks fine but feeling around the top of the shield, I notice heaps of flex and a tear in the metal. Great to finally track the bastard down.

Where do people get their parts lists from? Is the only free one still in Russian?

I use the lrcat.com and translate when using PC if I really need to know what the part is, but can usually work it out via the pictures if working from my phone.

New Radius Arm Bushes, 2” Spring Raisers and Rotors.

Spring Raisers to compensate for the 2” OME front lift. Yes, I know it won’t actually give me a 2” lift , but it will stop me over stretching the airbags. Plus I have noticed a marginal better (although air bags are smooth anyway) ride.

New Rotors... the wheel was off anyway

New RA Bushes: what a ***** of a job getting these things off the car! The nuts were ceased shut. Ended up using a breaker bar with 600mm pipe on the end. That’s difficult when working on the ground. It made me with I had a hoist. I bought a 12ton press which made the 2 diff bushes super easy. The chassis bush however wouldn’t budge! So I figured it’s probably ok & left them in place. The problem was that I couldn’t quite find an appropriate sized pipe to push them properly.
