Thanks discoman. I'm fine - my wife stacked it [emoji23] She's fine too. Hit some black ice in the black spur and shot into an embankment at about 50kph on a 45 degree angle. Was pretty shaken up but thankfully fine. As it was a relatively slow bingle we both thought it might scrape through insurance but it did need basically a new front end and two new doors when you break it down.Quote:

Replaced the ACE filter and flushed a litre of ACE fluid.
Also Sika’d the top passenger corner of the windscreen hopefully no more leaks.
Also lubricated the ignition barrel.
Hopefully this is enough hommage to the Land Rover god of reliability for sometime....

As it has been a beautiful day in the hills, i thought I'd do some work on the Disco. It has developed a major oil leak and the right rear door wont unlock with the central locking or open from the outside.
The oil leak was fairly easy to find, the head has a plastic access bung sealed with an o-ring, the oil is pouring out of it, so got to get a new seal.... the door was a different situation.
After removing the door trim, it was easy to see the Disco came from northern WA.... the amount of orange dust was shocking. It was a bit fiddly getting the lock out, but the worst thing was that i dropped the link from the handle to the lock! Over an hour of searching delivered no results... so begrudgingly i put everything back together unfixed as i need to go buy some parts.....
Roverlord only have OE seal for the head... not sure about that, but i think i'll grab it then look for a new oring for the original plastic plug. Hopefully i can source the link from the handle, and then i have to decide what to do about the latch, try and get a bit of adjustment out of it, replace it with a second hand one or a new one...
I suppose it's better to have dust than rust...

I drained the Provent and a mate remove the propshaft centre bearing shell. Next job is to rebuild the prop shaft and instal it on the car.
Thinking of catch cans, I can’t figure out where to mount it in a TD5 with ACE and a 2nd battery. Obviously too close to the turbo is bad but tats the only space I can find. Can’t get it to fit below the PS reservoir. Any ideas?

I was told by a Battery bloke in Brisbane that he had fitted several "thin" AGM batteries under the driver's seat of D2s.
I don't know if the ACE reservoir is longer than non ACE but I fitted a smaller Catch can (copy of Provent 100) between it and the front suspension strut. Seems to work fine.
