Yesterday I fitted a new rear LT230 output flange and seal to my 2002 TD5 , after doing it a couple of weeks ago with no new flange.

Pretty easy but the circlip which holds the bolts in place is a bear unless you have a good pair of external circlip pliers. Mine kept on slipping off until I got into them with a bench grinder.

The brake linings were wet even after only 2 weeks, but I wasn't going to replace them AGAIN. So just went over them with degreaser, wax and grease remover and metho.
Seeing t is theoretically dry now they should dry out.
I will be changing the flange on any future diff seal leaks and the front output shaft.
    Regards PhilipA

    EGT Guage

Finally fitted the EGT gauge been a long winded exercise juggling work and lock downs but all good now. Had a few issues getting the turbo off, one nut had to be cut off but the stud was easily replaced. Drilled and tapped the manifold for the sensor which went surprisingly well. (I'm no machinist) Cutting out the slot in the sunroof blank was a lot more difficult than you would think, weird sort of rubbery plastic which is difficult to cut. The green LED matches everything else. Now to get that tune...

What noise was it was designed to reduce, thought that was what Radio's were for in Land Rovers.

    Whats this for??
Mine went when I fitted the diff guard.

Last minute spur of the moment coz I am sick of it under the carport with bonnet up, rushed out to u-pull-it wreckers just before closing and grabbed a used fuel reg from a BA falcon, popped it in and it was reading 62 psi and no leak around the body, fitted as it came out of the falcon did not change 0-rings .

Test drive and pulling (just, but steadily) up hills from 110 and topped out at 150 on the flat.

On a moderate rise though it dropped from 140 but held 135 .

The last few days I have been reading up on these little units and learnt the nipple is there for applying vacuum or boost to alter the fuel pressure if required, otherwise just leave open to ambient air pressure as in the td5 application.

Had the nano hooked up and fuel temp fine without fuel cooler, Its basically 10 degrees or thereabouts below coolant temp.

Summer will tell a truer story if it needs to go back in.

At least I can drive the bloody thing while getting the external reg conversion sorted.

The next bit is even more boring if you're only a bling man..

In my search for a good large o-ring to stop leakage b4 I realized the reg was fubar, I have used the brown viton 19mm x 2.65mm available from supercheap auto. Part of a kit of various sizes, none of which are suitable for the small end unfortunately.

Even though the groove it sits in is 21 mm the extra thickness cross section makes it stand out prouder than the green 21 x 2 that comes with the Bosch replacement regulator. It pushes in satisfyingly more firmly.

What caught my eye when I finally pulled the reg out of the falcon after an epic battle laying on top of the motor, with my only tool being circlip pliers ( it wasn't held in by a circlip ! ) used as a lever/gripping pliers, was the thickness of both the o-rings and how proud they were of the body.

Once I got home and got busy re assembling it pushed in with a very loud snap and required more force even than the larger o-rings I have been using.

My fuel pressure kit is an ebay cheapie but it has a quick connect t-piece adaptor, so no making up fancy home made fittings, just unplug fuel line and insert in line.

And the current in tank cheapie ebay pump which hits 80psi as I now know but didn't want to,

So 2 bucks to get into the wreckers and 12 bucks for the regulator, and disco going, happy day.

    Springs not drivetrain?

Fixed it by pushing plastic tube over the spring.

It has SLS which was replaced by coils by the previous owner, sure he said this was only a year or so before I got it two years ago. Not sure when the 'fix' was applied but would not have thought it would not have been available within the last 10 years.

The bags and spacers are going on today - already serviced the pump and checked with the nanocom, so nice to hear it working.

    Bit of interior bling

Actually did the front today, new Dobinsons sitting pretty, leaving original shocks in until LRA get the front Bilsteins. Absolutely easy job to do, did not have to remove the shocks, just push them up (only needed about 4 inches) and extract the spring and locator. Push the springs back in, rotate them to position and bolt them back in. A double long shaft made the back bolts on the locator and strut tower a breeze by coming in from the engine bay down.

Then just a good bit of cutting compound on the centre console wood panel, a couple of sprays of clear coat and BLING
