What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

I sold it to a friend who already has 2 d2s as I know he will cherish it.
To be honest I dreaded listing it on Facebook marketplace or trading it in due to the argy bargy.
It needs quite a bit of work eg it is making oil but I don't know if just injector orings or cracked head as I couldn't be fussed to pull it apart. It needs new front ball joints as the boots are gone although the joints ar`e good and the bloody transfer case leaks a lot.
Otherwise I have spent countless hours and some money on it (usually adding or modifying) although over 9 years it doesn't add up to a lot.
Any way he got just about it's value in parts alone as I am a bit of a parts hoarder.

The Everst is a whole new world of electronics so I hope Ford is better than Land Rover in that regard.
So far so good. All the toys work, like lane assist(crap), auto headlights on, auto wipers, all round obstacle sensing, radar cruise, trailer stability control, rear diff lock, car next to indication in the mirrors(which I didn't notice yet),CARPLAY Yay,
Worst part is 20 inch wheels when I was expecting 18s although I do not plan GRR for a couple of years.

It started yesterday...

Had the head welded and machined for a crack on the #1 injector housing.

Been putting it back together for 3 or 4 days now.
Calmly, slowly, a bit at a time.

Will see how it'll work, or do I need a slightly larger o ring as it now is just a tiny bit larger than stock.

Well, with the price I paid for someone to do it, plus shipping back and forth...

I could do it like 5 times before it would have cost as much as a new head, a blank head with no valves etc...
So, I'll gladly see this out first.

mine got a recoed exhaust manifold, and so while manifold was out, thought it prudent to install a remote oil filter setup for ease of servicing going forward too.
I got a couple of pics, still have to finish up the oil filter setup, not a lot of time to post ... work always gets in the way!

Attachment 186737 ... I got a cheapie remote filter kit off ebay, and while it'd work on many other cars, it's not ideal for the TD5. This one is far better for the crap location of the filter head. Spent far too long trying to get the cheapie kit to work, but just not enough space down there to properly fit the fixtures, so the 90° head is the way to go.

Attachment 186738 .. checking for oil leaks again. Much better than the cheapie vertical port fitting. used 10AN fittings and hose.

Attachment 186739 .. you can see the gold! .. I did order black, but they sent gold .. nothing wrong with a bit of bling I guess. All fitted, and now leak free.

For anyone else sick and tired of the TD5 std oil filter location, and wants ease of changes, if you go down this path, nothing wrong with the cheapie ebay kits, just be warned that the commonly available vertical port types just don't allow enough room to fix the fittings due to the same issue of the oil filter! Not enough room to swing about down there. The 90° type, even tho is still tight, but at least is much easier to tighten down and get it sealed up!

Next item up for replacement is the turbo .. just enough float on the turbine to warrant it's replacement soon.

Well the Daughter decided to join the Disco club............now to rebuild the Auto box on it ........

I had the same issue re no room for the hose and fittings under the oil filter adaptor and ended up fitting 45 degree elbows on the filter adaptor and filter mount to attach the hoses to.
