What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

John. Can you enlighten me a bit on this tool. Cost, where you got it and is it any good. I have to do my ball joints soon.

The joints themselves are ok but the rubber boots are stuffed. Having said that, the amount of crap that has probably now got in through the split boots it
would probably be pointless changing the boots if they were available.

Tool in question came from ToolPro. You can get it from the usual suspects for around $100-120. What use it will be on a D2 is debatable. They are fun.... You will need heat, and frozen ball joints to fit back in.

Actually I think I might take that back. I just had to remove one side on mine. Did it easily. Haven’t put the new ones in yet……

The disk has a perfect taper to fit the inner part of the seal, the flat is almost exact on the body of the seal and the outer diameter fits into the axle yoke bit wth about a mm clearance. Couple of good taps with the FBH and done. I was happily astonished. Now to make something to tighten the CV boot clamps.....

I just did one axle seal on the weekend and I'm glad I bought one extra seal...
Think I used the 36mm socket to tap the seal in, and it cut it open due to the silly design of the seal, mainly the metal inside it.
Maybe I was too happy with "tapping" it with a hammer to seat the seal, but, live and learn.

Or maybe it just was that it was a allmakes one, the only one I could get in time.

Easy to do. The thing I used is shaped just like a seal tool.

Putting the new ones in is a bit of a **** around, cos the kit I have doesn't have quite the right bits for the upper one. I would have a look around, as they are not all the same. Got it done though.

Just about done for the RWC. And someone or something has delivered a blow to my windscreen[bigsad]:bat::BigCry:.

Let us know how you go about getting it replaced. It’s something that’s been on my agenda for years now, but I haven’t been able to trust anyone to do the job properly.
I think I’ll end up removing all the trim and scuttle panel myself before handing it over to the fitters.

I had Windscreens O'brien do my windscreen after it cracked. It was a claim. They did break the scuttle panel and as a part of the windscreen replacement they ended up replacing the scuttle panel also. Nothing was charged on to me.

I got it done locally by a two man show, who love Landies, for less than half what Obrien's wanted, around 18 months ago. Good job, didn't break anything. Glass was Chinese, but what isn't? I'm going with them again, as long as they are still around. Came to me. Ring Monday.

This time the scuttle is already cracked, so I'll try and patch it while he has the screen out.

These guys are in Olinda. So not next door to you. My local indie ( LR and OKA ) use and recommend a mob in Emerald. If you want I'll ask my guy if he'll go out there, if he's still around. Otherwise I'll have to use the Emerald mob. I can pass on numbers if you like. Definitely recommend the local guys, if the stars align.
