The main reason I fitted it was to eliminate potential spreading of the case under load.
When fitting the new sump we now have a big void where a gusseted aluminium plate used to be be, so I reckoned some 4mm steel plate which I had lying around the workshop at the time would be ideal.
I pinched the idea from Sitec, he used one when he fitted a Cummins to his Deefer, I just did mine a little differently, bush65 suggested keeping the web solid between the centre bolts as that's our critical load bearing path.
The baffle is an added bonus.

I bought it direct from the importer/distributor, Australian Yacht Winch in Galston, although the price is the same as if you bought from anyone of the Landy parts retailers

FYI: I got mine from 4WD Industries(Maintland) couple of years ago $150.

From looking around just about everywhere I could, they're all much of a muchness.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

I can't believe it took me so long to get my sorry, lazy arse into gear and swap out the rear stock rotors and Protex pads for the Delios/QFM pad combo I have on the front.
I can actually feel the rear brakes working now!! What happened to your Discovery 2 today?
It's just like when you jump into a race car and the newby driver that's been in it didn't know how to adjust the brake balance and you start winding on rear bias.
It's making the work ute look bloody ordinary in the stoping department now that the rears are bedded in nicely.

Cleaned the disco inside n out for the first time since the simmo trip...2 years ago ☺

Amazing how good the carpets came up clean and even the paint's now shiny n clean. Plastics r a bit sun damaged but overall it's holding up better than our last dunny door did.

Daughter said to sell it now it's clean 😅

Yeah, I should get off my clacker and get rid of the dust that we accumulated during our Birdsville, Strzelecki and Oodnadatta tracks trip in 2017. Can't rush these things though...
