That's what I've got ordered, hopefully it doesn't take too long to arrive. On better news gotten my driver's door actuator swapped, a job which felt much harder than it had to. Really should have had two people trying to do it with one is rather awkward.

    Alternator Repair

Well out came the alternator and the kit I got last from repairkitsuk was suprised to find it had all three bearing and two seals, O ring as well as the centre copper post. The usual problem with the VF and the alternator really only took about 20 minutes to get out. The 50mm Tork, what an idiotic requirement and would preclude many from repairing on the tracks. Then dismantling and deciding as the kit had everything to do everything except the centre copper post. All the bearing were fine and no movement just the brushes were a little worn down and barely pressured on the core.

Really simple job and again was only about half an hour between the BIL and I (he did the seals and bearings). Install, the same sort of time and less than 2 and a half hours all up. Checked the website and it would appear that repairkitsuk only supply the regulator and brushes now for about the same price around 70GBP, shame if this is the case.

My rocker cover pieces had not come and I found out the the front CAM seal was leaking, BADLY. There was a lot of oil around the alternator and front of the engine and the bad leak that looked like the ACE actuator was basically the oil from the Camshaft cover. I replaced this when we did the head and had to gasket around it then, the gasket material was basically gone. Paid the extra for the OEM part but now think that Turner head may be better suited to another cover, does anyone have a thought on this?

    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    Rookie Mistake

Well after constant issues with the Rocker Cover, picked up the parts today to change the gasket and lo and behold, on the D2 I had a 10P gasket on, sure that sounds right unless of course you have the Turner head and then it requires the 16P gasket. Back when changing heads must have assumed that the gasket was a 10P, and, there is quite a sizeable difference, no wonder it kept leaking and the tightening upon tightening had reduced the rubbers to o's and u's. Putting it all back together and the 1ONm for the bolts feels just more than finger tight.

Then to address a three amigo issue of the loosely connected sensor on the drivers side back wheel, just going over a speed bump, I don't go slow, but the three Mexican friends come on. Well taped it up tight and then put it at full stretch and it held nicely, even repeating the punishment on the way home did not loosen it, will miss them on the weekend upon the Thompson Dam.

having been bearing with a CDL that goes on and off, readjusted the cable today and it may be that my cut out for the lever / cable may not have been large enough, arrrggghh if it is, the fight with the undertray of the centre console is not a thing I wish to have again, maybe I can just remove the console and cut the hole bigger?

So didnt have time to do the GU Patrol airbox but will write about that on the modified upgraded airbox thread.

I'd been really annoyed with how bad the headlights are for quite a while now. Like, they were really bad especially when compared to the headlights in my Audi which are just amazing.

I've got a long night drive so I finally did a headlight adjustment.

Oh my god, why I didn't do this ages ago. The headlights are so much better now, on both low and high beam.

I've been on country roads just about all of my life and I've always driven on low beam on the highway. I hardly use high beam and my spotties are just ornaments. I just figured my eyes weren't as good as what they used to be as I had started using high beam a lot more than before.

Headlight alignment done and I can see again! This is better than any loom or high wattage globe upgrade.
    Cheers

    SLS air spring installed

After a day faffing about I replaced the old coils with the SLS airbags. It as not that tricky.. when you know what to do. I stood on the axle, well pushed it with a foot, to get the spring loose enough to removed. Putting the air bags went ok, I tried with the clip upside down and it would not go on. Turned the clip the other way and bingo! At present the the air bags are on manual, tomorrow I'll fit the loom, the height sensors, and the compressor, some how into a bent air compressor shelf. I have a hammer and cable ties, lots of cable ties. Then tell the car via the Nanocom that it has SLS.
I will have to remove the aux battery from the compressor shelf and the cables to the fridge and outlets at the rear. I'm not sure where to put the aux battery at the moment.
