    lucky 8 75mm flexi flares

So after e-mailing flat dog twice with no reply, and paddock spares once (they only have 50mm flexi flares) I've decided to go with the lucky 8 75mm flexi flare.

I did a fair bit of searching but found no ones opinion on the lucky 8 flares, (maybe because they're the same?)

so if anyone has these on they're D2

Lucky8 Llc. - Take the road less traveled...

could they please give me some feedback so i know if they're worth it and maybe even some tips for fitting especially how you sealed the rear door after cutting would be great!

they are going to cost about $450au shipped if anyone wanted to know

Some seal the rear door with sikaflex after the cut . A tube of silicon will do the same

I've done this before on a RRC using Paddock Spares purchased flares. I think they were Flat Dog brand from memory.

The front is easy enough, the rear takes some time to get right. I cut mine with a jig saw and a 4" grinder. To seal the rear door, stick a door seal the length of the cut over the cut. Be aware the end of the door is now going to be exposed to mud ect.

I've been considering doing this to my Disco 2a, not sure about it yet. I'd rather use a plasma cutter if i do but i don't have one

I was looking at the Terrafirma brand ones. But don't think they require a guard cut and therefore not actually suit larger tires. And I only want to run 32's on offset rims.

They do look the same as the flatdog flares , easy to seal up the rear door cuts with some 10mm sq rubber , silicone and pinchweld for inner door body cut.

I thought the inner door/body cut on the rear didn't need sealing as it isn't double layer like the door cut?

I run the Lucky8 flexi 75mm kit on my rig. A couple of observations about that kit:

No templates included so there is a lot of holding the flare up, mark, cut, mark, cut, mark, cut action.

The fastenings are cheap and rust after a while.

The flares aren't flush mounting. Aka there is a lip the runs around the perimeter of the flare for the rubber strip to mount to, this means the base of the pockets where the screws goes sits about 4mm off the body. To get around this I punch out 10000 little circles of rubber and made a kind of spacer that fixed it.

After being on the car for around 5 years they are discolouring.

Doing the rear doors is a massive PITA.

AND allocate at least 10 hours to fit them.

Other then that they have done well. I have tried to tear them off the car more then once and they seem to be pretty strong. I have pulled the heads of the screws threw the plastic more then once but its an easy repair.

For the money I cant really fault them. I can't fathom anyone spending the $1400 on the les Richmond fatboys for something that gets damaged so easily.

I run -6 16x8 dynamic steelies with 315/75r16 tires and the fitment is spot on.

Hope that gives you some insight.

All this is the same for the Flat Dog ones too. Except the spacer required under the mold where the screw goes might have been slightly less, something like 2mm.

The pinch weld adds a 2nd seal to the door and finishes off the sharp inner guard panel.
