Do you know the history of the radiator? There were a couple of modifications made to them over the life of the D2s.

What year is the D2, and do you know if it's an original or replacement?

And when you say oil, do you mean oil has leaked in to the coolant system, or are you talking about the auto oil cooling radiator?

Brad ,The unused outlet is for an earlier model. Given that that D2 is made up of odds and sods it not a worry.
Hi Pinelli, yes the oil cooler has decided to let go, a result of not running proper coolant it seems and the car had been sitting with no coolant in it for a couple of years. The car is slowly being resurrected HaHa

That outlet has a hose on it,but no water goes in or out. Both have a small hole and a piece of wire will go through the bottom but not the top.

Radiator not the original. Bottom hose goes to fuel cooler, top one heater?Should still have a hole in it you would think?

The later Radiators had a modification where one of the outlets is blocked off inside and a flow restrictor is fitted to the hose for the fuel cooler. Land Rover has a technical bulletin to show the difference when fitting the later radiators to earlier models.
    see atached pdf.

I removed the steel pipe around the back of the head and capped the oil cooler outlet with a 20mm rubber cap.

I don't recall which one is which, but connect the hose to their respective outlets on the Rad as if you had the old style radiator.
Re the restricter, many customers either leave it out or fabricate their own restricter as all you are doing is making the inner hose diameter smaller .
    Cheers, Mario
