Post About to purchase my D2

    Hey guys (male & female),
I'm getting pretty close to buying a D2 TD5 S update model for my new family car. My way of thinking - we're managing with one car, so why not sell the sedan and get an economic, comfortable, 7 seat, beach capable vehicle. My partner will drive this and I use my company vehicle.

It's just myself, the Mrs and the two kids (1yr & 4yrs) atm, but it would be nice to be able to chuck a couple extra in for a trip. Which brings me to my first question: is it legal and/or possible to have kids seats in the 3rd row? If not, only due to it having no harness bolt thread locations, if we have them installed & engineer approved if needed, is it feasible? Also, where are the locations to bolt down the kid seats in the 2nd row? Right below backrest?
I took it for a drive today and it drove well (maybe a little harsher ride than others I've driven as the airbags have been removed and springs installed). It needs a wheel alignment and it was surging when I floored it. Not missing, but surging as in revs going up and down. At first I thought it was the Auto having a freak out, but then it seemed like possibly something like a MAF sensor etc. He said he'll sort them both out and call me tomorrow with the news.

    Wish me luck.

Surging under full throttle could be oil in the injector harness, was when mine had same
    Fault.

Thanks, I'll let 'em know to take a look. Pedro, I am buying a 7 seater. My question was if you can or are allowed to fit child seats in the 3rd row. Cheers for the replies.

Surging will be the car hitting over boost on full throttle. They've wound up the wastegate a little by the sounds of it. Do a site search on it and heaps of threads and how to's will come up.

In a 5 seater the outside seat child anchors are in the back of the seat. The middle anchor is in the roof at the back. Not sure if you could easily get kids into third row seats if they are in car seats or capsules anyway.

Sorry I don't know more about 7 seater but mines 5

With a 7 seater you wont need to put them in the back, the overflow can go in the 3rd row.

If you want those seats that require a rear anchor point I'd say no.
The only anchor point to the rear of the third row is in the centre by the roof line. SO maybe one seat would fit, but the angle could be an issue.

If you have a booster seat without the rear strap then yes.

Is there a mounting point at the back of the third row seats?

    Cheers

To the best of my knowledge I believe it is illegal in any vehicle to have child seats in the third row - which is why there aren't any anchor points for it in any vehicle.

x2 what Narangga said. As there are no anchor points for child seats requiring them. "booster" seating are oki.
    Cheers Scott
