    I know I'm doing 2840rpm or so at 130
2150 or so for 100 ... very relaxed.

I think std D2 rpm with std tyres is around 2300 ... 2500 aint that much more ... It should pull away very well when the boot's applied with the torque converter locked up !

Best torque on a std tune engine is 1800 - 2200rpm

For the same reason that some people don't think its a problem, personal preference.
I spend my time at work in vehicles that are low geared and rarely do I see under 25-2600rpm, and it irritates me.
So when I get in my car, I like to cruise quietly at the legal speed limit
And you know plenty of Land Rover transmissions have 1:1 top gear, driven a few of those
My original reply was a little short, granted, but my ones at work tend to be

Just checked mine at 100 k standard 29 " tyres 2400 rpm so 2500 at a 100 is not far off the mark
Yes the Tdi and Td5 Deefer`s revs would be higher on standard gearing they also dont have a tacho fitted standard . So unless someone that has retro fitted a tacho to a earlier deefer can chime in
I have owned a Tdi and Td5 Deefer with standard gearing and they both sat on a 100 k plus no probs and both with roof racks still returned 100k to 10 ltr`s consistently
Can the doubters fess up what their gripe is

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
