Why change tyres , get chains to fit the tyres you have.

I'm looking at getting snow chains for the Disco.
The Owner's Handbook specifies these tyres 215/75 R16 Pirelli Scorpion S/T 107T on the front wheels to fit the chains. DO these tyres go on the existing rims or do I need new rims?
But what about the rear tyres? Do I stay with the 235/70 R16? or get a set of the Pirellis for the rear as well?
and what does S/T mean? Or is that a Pirelli identifier?
And finally what chain tyre combination do you use?
Thanks
Julian.

Why are you running different tire sizes?
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
215/75-16 6.3in 14.3in 28.7in 90.2in 703 0.0%
235/70-16 6.5in 14.5in 29.0in 91.0in 697 0.9%
I'm not running different size tyres, The Land Rover Owner's Hand book specifies the Pirelli Scorpion yada yada on page 196
I'm not sure that chains that fit the tyres will not damage the ABS cables on the front. Hence the "Skinny" Pirelli's
I'm going to have a good look at the front and see what the clearance issues are.

No issues, get them for the tyres you have.
I run a set on 265/75's, I'm at the snow so often they live in the car, not that they ever really get used, but I have used them![]()
You will find the 215/75's are actually the winter tyre size sold in cold climates as a second set.

My chains are "V2 traction" brand.
Went with them as that's what my connections could get me at a good price! Haha!
As an aside, we used to run chains on 235/70's as well, and 255/65's, which are the two stock sizes for 16" D2 wheels.
I've seen these V2 Traction
Snow Wheel Chains Brand NEW V2 Traction Diamond Pattern Size 104 | eBay
As they are kind of local, I'll head in and get 2 pairs.
Thanks for the advice on this, as you may have guessed I had no idea on snow chains.
Thanks
Julian.

Aren't you only meant to run chains on the front wheels on the D2?
Sure I read that in the owners manual ... ??
