We came across the same problem on the D2 not long ago It turned out the shaft linking the key barrel with the mechanism and switches had broken. We had to remove the door handle and inside door panel to access this. A low battery also had caused the system central locking to malfunction and needed to be reset at the dealer.

Measure the voltage on the battery while you press the unlock button on the fob, if it drops below 11V then the battery is weak, it's not unusual for a battery which was left to go totally flat to not recover anymore, if the battery is strong enough and you hear activity in the latches you'll have to replace them all cos they are all seized after 12 months of "rest"

    D2 Central Locking

Hi all . I have 99 D 2 . Running 33s with a lift . Anyway . It's been sitting for about 12 months and recently I charged up the battery . Now the central locking doesn't work . It won't work with the key or the button on the console . Wen either is pressed you can hear a click , like it's trying to work . Also the drivers door latch moves slightly . Just not enough . I've taken the skins off . So I see the latch move slightly . Any help is good help .

Thanks heaps . I'll test the voltage . But when you say replace the latches , what are you talking about exactly . Do you mean the latches that flick up and down . As in lock and unlock .
