How to keep the dust out ?

Does anyone have/know the definitive list of points to address to better keep the dust out ?

    D2a 2004 rear a/c 7 seater 3rd row removed drawers in place.

My back door handle sits against the drawers (can't operate it with door closed) and there's bad dust ingress through the handle, and bad dust ingress in the well where the 3rd row rhs seat folds into. The lhs has the a/c blower unit under a cover ... don't know what it's like underneath.

... other know spots ? How to rectify them ?

    Hi Kev,

Do you have fresh air coming in with the fan on, to maintain positive cabin pressure?

This works in my experience, but I don't have rear ac.
    Cheers

For the boot doorhandle, remove the trim and tape the inner plastics inplace to stop the leak.

RHS rear seat, remove the trim, te big square grommet has probably fallen out, but there are a few of them in there. I cant recall but possibly one near the vent in the trim also.

I would also look to improve the seal of the trim over the top od the boot door, thats a big on for leaking and dust. Perhaps back the seal to make it bear against the door.
    Cheers

Yes. And when oncoming is kicking up dust briefly switch to recirc until the dust clears.

If you are alone on the road - ie not in convoy or otherwise have anybody ahead of you already stirring up dust, then you can curtail the dust ingress into the rear load area by lowering both the rear passenger door windows about 150mm (6 inches).

My brother and I learn't this trick from our ex army brother in law who not surprisingly spent a lot of time in Series II landrovers in the dusty outback and high country. The army drivers would roll up the left and right side canvas and leave the rear tailgate canvas down which created positive pressure area between the windscreen and the rear canvas flap. We've proven that it works over multiple trips in the Victorian High county in our Ex Army Series II FFR and also in my D2 over many trips Jamieson to Woods Point and back.

The discussion in this link maybe relevant for you also http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...-unlocker.html

I traced my dust ingress to the vent inside the rear RHS quarter panel behind the rear trim, you can just about see it inside the void space behind the wee vent.

The foam had perished and allowed dust kicked up by the rear wheels to enter in voluminous quantities. I was running some cables through it so I sikaflexed and braced a rectangular piece of rubber as a flap over the vent - I was led to believe the vents purpose is to allow pressure to vent when closing the doors, whether that is true I don't know. Dust ingress is minimal now.

Thanks. I guess that's the area Simon was referring to ... Have to get the drawers out before I tackle that area.

    Thanks!

No worries Kev ... At first I was convinced the dust was coming in through the rear door rubber etc, I only came across this vent when I was installing my dual battery system, glad I got to bottom of the mystery ingress ...... You will amazed at the difference it makes fixing the problem...
