    Question Oil Filter Lenghts for TD5

    Hi Guys, Purchased Oil filter Allmakes for Disco 2 TD5 but it is 12 mm longer than the Mahle one I had in and there is no way it will fit between the male thread from engine and on top of the oil cooler hose for the turbo. Has anyone else had this problem or aint I trying hard enough it just does not want to fit in. It is supposed to be the correct one LPX 100590.
    The mahle one I think is LPX 100590A.

    Ryco equivalent is Z614, 100mm high according to their spec sheet. Fitted one a couple of days ago. I think the old one was a Mahle (black coloured) but can't check as rubbish was collected this morning. Definitely was the same size tho.

    Cheers

    Allmakes oil filters = cheap and nasty. Go Mahle or Coopers or Genuine

    I have the same issue ... though ive never used an Allmakes fliter ... the Mahle is good, and the coopers is too long giving the same problem as the OP outlined. Never tried a genuine LR one.

    ... the repco filter is the same length as the Mahle ??

    Hi Fluids
    The Coopers we sell aren't an issue, I think the issue is the coopers are not made exclusively for land rover vehicles, and the closest fit is used.
    There were some older coopers filters supplied years ago which were slightly longer, maybe you had one of those.

    In fact many of customers buy the coopers over the Mahle, they use the filter tool we sell which fits the coopers and genuine but the Mahle has a different end so the tool doesn't fit .

    It's due to the position of the turbo drain hose in the block. You can loosen the the fitting and push it down and retighten.
    It doesn't leak oil, Its sweating power

    I also discovered some years ago there are two brands of Cooper Filters;

    1. Coopers Fiaam, a French Company and OEM supplier to a number of manufacturers and
    2. Westfil Cooper, a local company who appear to compete with Ryco

    Cheers

    Assuming that you are referring to the Britpart DA117 tool, I found that it works with most filters except for the Mahle brand ones - https://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery...oem-brand.html
