    clunk in rear end

Hi all I have developed a clunk in the rear end of my disco2 this happened when I drove through an open culvert as I went to pull back on the road it sounded like I bottomed out or hit something:mad. The clunk is now when I drive up drive ways or corner sharp my left rear shock absorber is leaking so I'm hoping a new set of shocks will fix it I'm thinking about terra firma shocks as I have Dobson HD springs. I converted from air springs when they let me down in the middle of nowhere in NSW. I'm thinking along the line of +2inch as the HD springs have picked the arss up a bit any help or suggestions would be much appreciated the car has about 308000ks never had shocks replaced . Seems pedders are not much good anyone used tough dog shocks if shocks don't fix this problem then I will have to rebuild the watts linkage that could be a pita as I don't have a press.

It may also be your watts link bushes. A search on here should reveal dozens of results.
Also, Id avoid TF. Old man emu or bilstein would be my choice.

No help regarding your clunk but I've replaced my suspension with TF's 2" hd springs all around and haven't had a problem set me back 1500 with labour included.

Car previously had 2" lift, unsure of brand but the the springs were a little worn after time hence going with HD replacements (prepping for the weight of the some custom bar work too).

Was initially after a set of old man emus and was quoted around 1800 installed but swayed away after not seeing much of a difference between the two.

    Hi Disco Muppet,

Interested in what feedback you've got for the TF's

Recently put a set on, wondering if I should be keeping an eye out for anything in particular?

Leaking oil seems to be the big one. Also suffering from excessive fade over rough ground, and I've seen a few snap.
More people I know who've run them dislike them than the other way around, but some people have no issues with them.

Personally I would avoid any foam cell for a touring 4WD, no matter how big they are. Once they've run hot they're history. For a run of the mill shock I'd just stick with a regular twin shell nitrogen shock which will cost similar, return to normal operation after being overheated and as a touring shock give you better service life. I agree with Muppet in that the OME is a good shock if you want a regular design shock or Bilstein for a premium design shock.

The rubber bush on the LHS rear shock fell apart on a Pedders Red. I replaced both rears with the standard LR D2 shock. Gives a better ride than the Pedder's.
