    D2 Steering Wheel

I was looking to replace the steering wheel on teh TD5 HSE but found out new wheels are no longer available. Are there any options to tidy up the existing one? Recovered maybe?

Otherwise I will need to look out for a 2nd hand one in decent condition.

I'm in the same boat. My wheel has started to loosen around the metal bar and just generally looking well used.

I thought I managed to sus a new wheel out from CarID in America for $800 however the store came back to tell me it's a discontinued item and is no longer available.

I sussed out an alternative product (link below) to help harden up the wheel's loose bit but am looking to see if anyone that comments on here has used this product and what their thoughts on it were prior to biting the bullet.

Seeing as I can't replace with a new wheel, I'm now looking to fill the gap then put a nice stitched leather steering wheel cover on that I got from eBay.

Wondering if anyone has used the product in the link before?

I've used this or something similar on a couple of cars.
    It works.

    Google is your friend

Just Googled 'auto steering wheel restoration' several sites came up here in good ol Aus.

I wouldn't be using the other glue type stuff, I find the wheels become damaged on the outside as much as inside and would much rather a good restoration, sure it will cost more.

    Regards

Last year I found it impossible to find a new wheel at a realistic price and no good condition second hand units available.

I highly recommend Leather FX - Leather FX - Style Quality SatisfactionLeather FX | Style Quality Satisfaction - does some quality work. Easiest to find a cheap replacement wheel from a wreck and send yours to him to be recovered - that way you can still drive the vehicle while the work is being done! Last year the price was $280.00 including return freight for the HSE Discovery wheel to be recovered in leather.

    Hi twr7cx

    Thanks for the link!

Gave old mate a call and got an over the phone quote for 290 plus postage and handling but I'll send him some pictures of my current steering wheel tonight for a more accurate quote.

Do you have before/after pictures of your steering wheel?

I'm just curious about what to do with the airbag cover if I do send him the wheel to restore.
