    Shimmy under brakes

I currently have a wheel shimmy only under brakes at about 80Kmh and then below.
My guess is a warped disc, Panhard rod bushes or a ball joint, or maybe tie rod ends. Or maybe wheel balance.
Has anyone suffered similar and what it was?
    Regards Philip A

Gday on a patrol I had previously there was a certain bump in the road I would hit and it would create a massive front end wobble, I replaced steering dampner to solve issue.

Shimmy under braking suggests a warpped or damaged disc, perhaps amplified by one of the usual suspects - tie rod ends, swivels, panhard rod, loose steering box etc.

D2 has ball joint swivels which could also be a cause .
If the shimmy is only evident at 80 k i doubt it would be rotors.
Normally brake shudder would be evident at most speeds and more severe with heavy braking and at speed
Either get your front rotors machined and fit new pads or just replace the whole set with Good Quality Rotors and Pads
But as has been said check your steering components firstly properly before throwing good money and parts at it

When my D2 wobbles in the steering wheel under brakes it's time for new rotors.

Yes I will check them with a dial gauge but they are only about 50KK old RDAs with machined grooves and Bendix pads so I won't be happy Jan.

The most I've ever had from a set of rotors is 2 sets of pads (EBC easily and standard rotors sometimes). I have Bendix/DBA at the moment and these rotors will be to 1 set of pads to the rotor.

I think rotors on a D2 are pretty well a consumable item.

I can get shimmy if the front tyres have too much pressure.

They are if you use hard pads, softer pads will wear quicker, produce a bit more dust but not rip the discs so much.
