I just drove about 20ks and no knock.
Next time it happens I'll put a "stethoscope" on it and try to isolate where it's coming from and try and count them.
If worst comes to worst I think I'll go for this from V8 Developments in the UK:
Lightened and dynamically balanced 4.6 litre short engine (cylinder block, crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons).
The cylinder block is acid-dipped, sonically crack-tested, line-bored, and fitted with 'Top Hat' liners. The pistons are pocketed to allow for high lift / long duration camshafts.
These engines start from ?1,750 for a standard one as described above. Which in Aus dollars is about $2,860 plus freight.
