    Tornado Chip new

Looks like Mark is now doing an ECU that doesn't require your own sent in and programmed. ...can get it with large MAF. Even better the ECU has a purple top.
    Cheers

This is off topic a little but semi related

    Background info

I have had a BD chip upgrade when I had the 4.0.
It filled in the whole just nice that Mark Adams describes, this was a few years back now.

Since then I have had a 4.6 swapped in, but still retained the original 4.0 plumbing, maf, air boxlid etc.

I have notice lately that the disco doesnt seem to hold hills as good as I recalled, and is keen to kick down a gear more than i remember.
Reading other posts, this can be sign of a failing maf, but it drives smooth enough, not throwing up any codes, but consumption has also increased

(Hence other post regarding the MAF and g/s measurement to see how well the MAF is going)

My air box lid is starting to crack at the clips, and needs replacing pretty soon.

So my delima is do I go for the bigger P38 lid, the bigger MAF etc, while still utilising my existing ECU upgrade (even though its from a 4.0)
And hopefully the bigger air flow will help.......

Will the bigger MAF, screw up the 4.0 tune??
Also im still confused regarding the MAF/MAF housing, from what I have understood, the P38 4.6 MAF housing is bigger, but the MAF sensor is the same?
I can see MAF sensors on fleebay that say suit 4.0 and 4.6, so Im assuming the sensor is the same but the housing is bigger?
I know somebody will say just get the tornado chip...but I have already paid for one chip upgrade:-( so far
So do you think I will benefit from getting the bigger lid, maf housing while staying on the 4.0 upgraded BD chip?

sensor would be the same,, housing is bigger,
as to the question of more air more go?

depends on the tune, if its a 4L tune then no,,

and the MAF only works at idle? O2 sensors deal with everything above that...

I believe my friend ozscott is very happy with the standard ecm running his 4.6..
so you are one BIG jump ahead of him!!

but. if the airbox lid needs replacing then why not?

oh and at 750 rpm idle mine is 6-7 g per s

though I'm not sure we can do an apples to apples thing...
2 standard ecm's on two standard 4L's maybe,

Maybe the manual masks it but I have never felt the flat spot that Mark mentions. Cheers

I would be very surprised if the manual ecm was the same as for an auto,, 255 different versions of D2 ecms available,, aparently.
and the reason for your lack of dead zone is,, its only below 3K revs,,,
