I have the stock fittings on the engine oil cooler and manual trans cooler on my D2 V8. Never had them fail and have disconnected and reconnected them recently. Cheers

I recently had the auto rebuilt by a very reputable Auto transmission place here in Melbourne
When I first got it back , after a week or approx 500kms, the change down to 2nd and 1st was pretty clunky
They took it back without question and checked it out
Turned out to be gunk from the trans cooler fouling up the pressure valve
They reflushed the cooler and cleaned the valve , all at no cost but advised that despite a number of flushings of the cooler, a good deal of crud can stay in there sometimes and to monitor how it went
Bearing in mind that it might need a new cooler
It is a lot better but still not perfect to my mind
So, having forked out the $ for a new auto , I figure its worth getting the Trans Cooler done now
I have a quote to supply and fit a genuine item or fit only if I supply the cooler
What have others paid for that
And , is it worth getting the stupid presfit? couplings swapped out for something more robust
I had some let go on me in my previous D2A up near Ouyen on a stinker of a day
I reckon that set up that auto to fail eventually

I was speaking to Triumph Rover about this recently. They have had success with installing a P38 cooler as a replacement. Apparently they do an install yourself kit for somewhere about $500
Just need to add that to the list of stuff to do

Supplied and fitted in Brisbane I paid $900 for the job. Was an additional pwr cooler plumbed in + a temp sensor T. I supplied the sensor as it came with the Madman kit. The LR specialist I went to said not to worry abt pulling out or bypassing the factory cooler as for low speed work it is best where the is minimal airflow over the new cooler. Yet to hook up the Madman gauges however the shifts are much better under high load/temp when I'm towing the van. Pre cooler but with fresh ATF and filter , after an hour on the road, the shift from 3 lock to 4 unlocked was quite vague, like it was slipping. Now even after a couple of hours non stop towing and up and down big hills, all feels the same as when it's cold. Hoping the temp gauge confirms that when i get it hooked up![]()
