    Aircon problems D2

For a while now I have had no aircon working in my D2a. So far I have checked,
    1. Fuse F6 engine bay ok.
    2. Compressor plug pushed in ok.
    3. Swapped relay R11 (compressor) with R12 ( front fog).
When the engine is first started and cold the air coming out of vents with aircon on LO the air is cool but not cold. When the engine is hot the air is slightly on the warm side.
To me there seems to be 2 issues.
    1. I think there is a heat vent that is not shutting off completely.
    2. The aircon is is not cooling.
The aircon must be thermostatically controlled. Is there a way of checking that?
Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

    Graeme

Have you checked to make sure that the clutch on the compressor is engaging and the compressor is running when turned on?
If it is then maybe you will need to get the system checked for leaks and get a re gas.

If it needs "regas" means system has a leak and needs repair

    thanks
I have checked the clutch is working. when the clutch kick's in there is a slight change in revs.

    Thanks.

I forgot to mention that I have had an AutoElectric shop check for gas. That was my first test. I was told that if the gas was low the duel pressure sensor switch would not let the compressor kick in.

That's true... as you said in the first post that you checked the compressor's plug, relay and fuse the preumption was that it doesnt kick in so low gas can be the cause, once the gas pressure it's ruled out the troubleshooting can go further otherwise it's inefficient

    Not so.

The system can be short of refrigerant and the LP switch may still be in and let the comp start, and if the refrigerant charge is low enough it will trip the LP and cut out at some point after running for a while.
Depending on how short it is the compressor may still run almost continuously, but not necessarily cool, or it may cut out almost instantly.
It all depends on what the LP is set to cut out at, and what the refrigerant charge actually is.

Gauges need to be hooked up to see what's happening otherwise we are guessing

That switch works exclusively on system pressure so if the pressure is below the minimum limit it will be open and not let the compressor clutch to engage

    Thanks sierrafrey
Looks like I better start again and try another aircon service. I have been buggering around with this for a while now as the shop I went to tells me the gas is ok so I have spent lots of time looking at other checks. Past experience for me tells me it is gas but can't understand why I was told gas ok. Will get it checked again and get back to you all.

Thanks to everyone for their help so far.
