I suppose I should have asked something like; is it possible to run a wire through it, or is the path too tortuous? I tried comp air but it didn't work.
Anyway, I can go ahead and fit all the accessory drives and pulleys, so I'll achieve something today.

    G`day ,

a 3/32 drill bit by hand should work or what ever size you have to fit but 1/8th or 3mm is a tight fit .

Push it in and twist and pull back which will pick the carbon up in the twist .

By hand you can do no damage and you will see the end of the bit in the middle of where the ball sits .

The drilling is angled and a straight line between the entrance inside and the ball holder middle .

As there are a few if you have a feel for using a drill you could place each in a vise and carefully use a powered drill but hold the bit back and let it enter little by little and make sure it is square with the drilling .

If you muck it up and break the bit as long as you use the smaller diameter you should be able to remove it easily , if the 1/8th bit is used it may grab the alloy and be not so easy, depending where the bit breaks .

Cheers PLR. Appreciate your advice. I have a pin chuck and a heap of number drills, so no worries.

Haven't touched the rockers again yet, but if I could work out how to disconnect the gearbox oil cooler pipes I would have the radiator out, ready for a new one to go in.
I'm really learning a lot doing this work and finding it very enjoyable pottering around for an hour or so after work.
Will post a couple more pics tomorrow.

Mate push fitting towards rad while squeezing the black collar bit then pull back towards engine bay. I took a photo of me doing it. One hand pushing forward and other pulling back on black collar. Once you get one rest are easy. Cheers

Probably best description is to push forward hard then pull back on black collar whilst maintaining pressure forward then pull whole assembly back towards engine (ie with black collar and steel line still pushed together)...clear as mud?

    Cheers

I bent the blades of an offset small pair of needle nosed pliers inwards to depress the buttons as sometimes one side is unreachable.eg a TD5 fuel cooler.

I think I've got it. Will give it a try tonight.
When the connector finally comes off, how much transmission oil will I be drenched with, if I don't drain the fluid first?

Some progress pics attached for those interested.
