Diesel fuel preasure regulator

I replaced my FPR a while ago (thanks Mario for the complete unit) and tried to be cute and leave the old pipes in place.

As soon as I started the motor afterwards I had fuel going everywhere, disturbing the pipes had caused a leak.

The main reason for trying to 'cheat' was the apparent difficulty getting to the fitting on the pipe that runs to the front of the motor!

I wound up bending an open ended spanner to access the fitting and cutting a slot in a ring spanner to fit it over the pipe. Between the two of them it was not all that hard!!

Don't cheat, do the job properly, that's advice to me not you.

Oh, and the 'did I', did I drop that little filter?

And this is why removal of the inlet manifold makes it easier as no special tools are required to change that pipe with the manifold off[wink11]

Hi guys new to this site having a disco it's handy to have knowledge.How much work is there in taking off the manifold to get to the
fuel line at the front of the block. I've done exactly what nismine01 has done I am contemplating doing it the same way it does look testy

It's not too bad we did rangiemans recently including cleaning out the manifold it took a couple of hours and you need to disconnect the engine harness from the airbox back to the manifold as it runs through between ports 1 and 2

I sourced a Genuine Bosch replacement from the USA, cost around $35usd. It was the regulator itself causing the leak. I replaced the o ring holding the gauze filter, and the gasket between the regulator housing and the engine head. No leaks now and didn't pay the ridiculous price of $300+
