Rim advice for upcoming july Madigan line crossing

Hi everyone, I am after some advice on the most feasible way forward. I need a second spare for my current set of dynamic steel rims fitted with 245x75 16 for my 2003 Discovery 2 td5. The rims are 16x7 with a positive 30 offset, 1400kgs. I learnt that this model has been discontinued. The available options to me are:
    get 16x8 30+ offset 1200kgs
    get 16 x7 25+ offset 1200kgs
    use the oem alloy rim
keep on watching the forum (have been for a few months now with no luck)

Thanks in advance for your advice

Why not just carry a spare tyre not the wheel, it's got to be lighter and you're already are running aftermarket rims so you'll probably just need to use a jack base to pop the bead and couple of irons to remove the tyre.

Probably the most sensible post I've seen today, and I've been looking.

If your admit to have a second spare go with "get 16 x7 25+ offset 1200kgs".

I disagree, dynamic wheels are garbage at the best of times. A spare wheel can be as important as a spare tyre. I'd only carry a tyre by itself if I already had two spares.

Rim advice for upcoming july Madigan line crossing

First of all, thank you for your replies. Can I ask please why no one recommended the use of the OEM alloy as the rim for second spare?

If you already have the OEM Alloys lying around I can't see any reason Not to use them as a extra spare.

    For me..
If I truly felt I need more than one spare, I'd carry the complete second spare.
The debate between tyre irons/equipment vs rim weight is almost irrelevant if considered against removing a wheel assembly then the tyre and refitting the tyre and wheel assembly in less than ideal country.
If you are unlikely and unfortunate enough to need the second tyre I promise you will only do this once before finding the few kg to carry the complete assembly.

The most important thing to do if considering tyre only is:
Before the trip wait for very hot or wet day, go out to a track and change the tyre out from the rim in those conditions.
If you like the experience - decision made.
    If you don't- decision made.

For myself, I hate removing flats and fitting tyres to wheels, so I'd just take the OEM alloy (maybe even two). You know it fits and hopefully you won't need it, so problem solved.
