I'd be changing the harness, as they can get brittle at the contacts if they haven't been changed for a while, a change in temp can be all it takes to make a bad contact
Sounds like a great trip
See my post D2a 2004 Auto DOES lockup TC in 2nd gear !!
I first suspected the harness as I found a "tiny" bit of oil in the plug at the head, but on subsequent checks/cleans there was virtually no oil .... so suspect the injector.
Fault code from the Nanocom reads thus ...
" (27,4) INJECTOR 4 PEAK CHARGE LONG, "
Clear the code, and it doesn't return until the rough running returns ... engine runs (at idle) just like it's running on 4-4.5 cylinders, but with extra loud pedal makes adequate progress .... and at lower revs (around 2100rpm in 4th lockup) adding more throttle and boost, produces and effect like a tire out of balance ... back off the throttle and it smooths out and the vibration goes away.
It's not blowing any black smoke, and the fuel consumption has virtually not changed (averaged 14L/100km towing the kamper ... Walkers Crossing track and the Simpson it raised to 15.77L/100 and 15.23L/100 ... considering the terrain, and driving alot of that with the torque converter unlocked and pulling the kamper, the fuel economy didn't appear to suffer ... just needed alot more throttle than usual to make adequate progress .... the std tune with extra boost, no egr or CAT D2/Td5 towing a 1.5T KK offroad is never going to be a fire breathing rig regardless !!
Injector ??

Well, I bought it in 2009, with 120k on the clock, 5 years old, and no mention of an injector loom in the service doc's ....
193k now, and 13.5yrs old .... and checked the inj' loom again last night ... no oil at the head plug. What can I say ??Honestly, my Land Rover _doesn't_ leak oil
I'll start with a new injector loom ... it's a simple job ... but my money is on injector no4 being the culprit ... the problem/failure has precise repeatability and the error code remains the same each time ...
I could be wrong also ...

Kev. LR sell re-manufactured ones for around $450 each.
I just stuck 5 in mine trying to solve my problem, which turned into a waste of money.

SupporterSymptoms sound very similar to my brother's TD5 D2.
Suddenly developed rough running. No error codes from the nanocom tho.
Changed all the obvious stuff, MAF made the most difference, but as OP describes seems to feel like it's running on 4-4.5 cyls.
Similar vibration like a out of balance wheel or something just on lockup at about 80-ish km/h.
Difference is that this one you can power out of it a little to rid the vibes(and or back off too).
Other thing with the vibes in 4th at lockup point, if we drop down to third, engine revs rise from about 2K to about 3K RPM .... vibes all but gone.
He's doing the injector loom next up to see if that fixes it.
Any luck on yours(yet) Fluids?
Arthur.
