The genuine one does not come with the gasket or the oring
I bought a Britpart FPR for my 2002 TD5 EU3 from LR Direct a couple of weeks ago.
When I checked the contents of the package I found no Oring to sit on the fuel strainer which should be replaced when you replace the FPR.
I emailed LR direct with the news which they claim they never received.
A second email a couple of days ago was answered and they then emailed Britpart who responded .
So I have replied where it goes.I have liaised with Britpart and they havereplied with the following point:
“Please could you confirm where your customerbelieves the O Ring should be? This part comes in direct from our supplier thenwe box and label them up.
We don’t add or take off any parts."
Our suppliers have cheked their stock of theseparts and they have also provided us a photos of the part confirming that thispart doe not have the O rings.
However, could you kindly let us know wherethis O ring should go and we will take this up with our suppliers.
I hope the above information is sufficient foryour needs.
It sure shows a poor understanding of their product IMHO.
The annoying thing is that for the want of a 40P retail o ring I have to spend $12 including freight to buy one locally.
BTW , I was quite impressed with the apparent quality as it uses a Bosch regulator . I really bought the complete thing to get the hose at it was not much more for the complete regulator from LR Direct than to buy a hose locally.

If you had bought locally say from Mario you would have got your 40p o ring with out any extra charge or hassle and had the peace of having local warranty claim god forbid![]()
I have recently fitted 2 fuel pressure regulator repair kits and they both came with the oring easy fix and at $66 delivered it's a lot cheaper than replacing the unit for around $300 as the housing seldom fails

I have already rebuilt my FPR with a kit ( without the actual regulator) about 4 years ago and still no leaks.
I really bought the full FPR from LR Direct as next time I need to replace the rubber hoses as a guarantee that they do not rupture as has happened to several posters.
The full FPR from LR Direct was not much more than the local price for the hoses, so I bought it anticipating GST to be applied on July1 2017 along with some new bump stops and a new burper for the air cleaner. Now GST is not being applied until 2018 then I can buy some more stuff as spares like maybe that Watts linkage assembly which is SOO expensive.

BTW I think Mario is terrific also . I buy from him when possible but sometimes LR Direct have specials that cannot be ignored like in the $200s for a VDO fuel pump.
The discount price is of no help when you have a warranty claim and your savings are sucked up by return postage costs or phone calls to oversea`s suppliers .
For the sake of a few dollars when something goes pair shaped it is just not worth it .
In saying this i have bought from over sea`s in the past knowing full well if there was a issue id be more out of pocket that the saving is worth.
As a rule when i and if i buy from oversea`s it is a OEM part and it is usualy something that is hard to source here
Honestly if we dont support Vendors here or sellers in Australia it wont take long for the lads oversea`s to realise that they have a monopoly and your savings will be slim pickings + exy postage .
I went through something similar with a FPR not too long ago and the price locally was not silly exhorbitant high enough to worry about a couple of dollars saving plus i had the peace of mind of the o ring supplied and support if needed locally![]()

Thanks for all your work on this.
I gave up a while ago expecting a sensible reply from Britpart.
They are correct in saying that Land Rover do not include a gasket and Oring, but they supply the gasket but not the oring.
This is pretty inconsistent.
My point is that for the sake of 40P they should include the oring seeing they include the gasket.
Then the kit would be complete so that someone buying it could then go ahead and fit the new Fuel Pressure Regulator without having to buy extra parts.
Their response to you sounds like what I expect from a Civil Servant not a marketing company.
You must be a big if not their biggest customer so put some pressure on them and then maybe eventually they will react. It cannot be that hard to change.

I have receievd a feedback from the supplierand they have confirmed the following pionts, and I quote," My reply wasto confirm which seal was missing is to establish if we have a defective part /stock issue. Reading your customers comments below I believe that your customeris talking about the rubber seal highlighted in the attached as number 6. Thisseal does not come supplied with this part and this is how Land Rover alsosupply this part.
We also include item number 4 (MSX100080 –MSX000010) with this part but Land Rover does not.
If the required seals are needed (number 6 ) Ibelieve the item number is ERR6761 as previously stated below but pleaseconfirm with our sales depart".
Therefore, I can confirm that O ring does notcome with this part.

I fell foul of this after getting a new gasket from LandRover yesterday to replace my FPR with a spare. Rather than go through the hassle of getting the 'O' ring I replaced the FPR with the 'O' ring that was already fitted to the head without disturbing it as it was sitting nice and proud. I am not anticipating any problems.

The FPR I purchased from a local supplier came complete with gaskets and that little "o" ring that's under discussion. ( thanks Mario)![]()
